An Afternoon in Windsor

This last week has been full of adventure and discovery if not very far from home . Last weekend I went with my cousins to Windsor Castle which according to Wikipedia is the oldest continuously inhabited Castle in the world , whatever the truth is it was impressive . The Windsor township was very English and very touristy at the same time , though it did have some nice old buildings and cobbled street in amongst the McDonald's and cafes . I didn't look at the Queens Doll House which if the people queuing in line is anything to go by it must be impressive .
There wasn't a line for the State Apartments and I walked straight past my cousins in the line for the Doll House(they had little girls with them) and made my way through the displays of trophy's collected through century's of British global domination, the Waterloo chamber and various other rooms . Waterloo along with the gardens outside the round tower were the highlights inside the Castle walls for me as well as the Guard with the funny hat down by the exit . After the Castle we walked down by the Thames and crossed the bridge into Eton to have a look at the college but only looked at the church as you had to pay to get into the campus . There wasn't much to see in Eton other than a High St with school boy uniform shops and the obligatory Costa so we decided to make for the car and be on our way . Just a note if you want to get a photo of the Castle from the bottom of the Grand Mile it would be best to do it while you are on the Castle grounds , when you leave Windsor the one way street system directs you away from the Castle so you won't be able to get a good shot . Here are some snaps from the afternoon
,hope you enjoy

Note - you cannot take photos inside the State Apartments
